Best Karaoke in London

Mama Shelter

Shoreditch

Mama Shelter

Whether you’re in a karaoke mood or not, Mama Shelter in Shoreditch is a wonderful place to spend an evening. Its restaurant is vibrant, yet cosy, while the garden bar is the perfect spot for an after-work cocktail – or two.

With two Japanese-style karaoke rooms that can accommodate up to 15 people each, and a mammoth 10,000 songs to choose from, you won’t be running out of options any time soon.

Mama Shelter has already developed quite a reputation as one of the stand-out karaoke locations in London and it’s not hard to see why.

The Phoenix

Marylebone

Now for something very different. Things can get wild in the Phoenix, located on Cavendish Square in Marylebone. If you’ve ever dreamed of getting up in front of a large crowd and belting out an absolute classic with a real band playing behind you, then this is the place to come.

This pub is always bustling and along with its karaoke nights it hosts comedy events, club nights, DJs, and quiz nights, making it a bouncing setting whichever night you choose to visit.

Going on stage at the Phoenix can be both terrifying and exhilarating – often in equal measures. If your bucket list has always included that ‘live music’ rendition, then the Phoenix is the place to tick that box.

The Star By Liverpool Street

Liverpool Street

Located right in the thick of things, just a few minutes from Liverpool Street Station, this recently-opened pub is already making a real name for itself.

The Star By Liverpool Street ticks pretty much every box you’d hope it might: Great karaoke rooms, excellent food supplied by Hotbox London, and drinks packages that are guaranteed to turn the night up to 11.

The venue comes with five separate and individually decorated private karaoke rooms that can hold between 8 and 15 people and two larger rooms, the Glam Palace and the Backstage Room, which can accommodate 80 and 50 people respectively – perfect for those larger work events.

Come for the food and drink, stay for the karaoke, and leave entirely satisfied.

K Box

Multiple Locations

Karaoke Box boasts three separate venues across the city, in Mayfair, Smithfield, and Soho, each providing private karaoke rooms.

Sizes vary with the smallest accommodating just two people and the largest catering for parties of up to 20 – just what you need for that grandstand finish to Hey Jude

The Mayfair branch comes with individually decorated rooms that add that extra bit of spice to your night out. The luxury room offers delicate refinement, while the showgirls room is all about that boudoir vibe.

A special mention should go to the paddle cell room (exactly how you imagine it) which accommodates just two people, making it both one of the weirdest and perhaps most unique date experiences in the city.

All Star Lanes

Multiple Locations

Forget those increasingly forgettable bowling alleys they began churning out in the 90s, All Star Lanes are a set of classy joints with stylish 50s flair and private karaoke booths for when your bowling bottoms out and singing becomes the only option.

With karaoke rooms able to accommodate up to 14 people, American diner food, excellent cocktails, and of course, bowling, you might ask yourself why you’d need to go anywhere else. All Star Lanes has four separate venues; Brick Lane, Holborn, Stratford, and White City.

Lucky Voice

Multiple Locations

Where do you go when the party is as important as the karaoke? With four venues across the city, in Liverpool Street, Holborn, Islington, and Soho, Lucky Voice provides private rooms that can accommodate groups of up to 30 for 2 hours.

This is not the kind of place where everybody sits quietly and watches somebody sing. Dancing is not only encouraged – it may even be mandatory – and once your time is up you can “retire” to the main bar area and continue the party from there.

Karaoke With a Difference

Multiple Locations

So far, each of the entries in this guide has focused on specific venues that typically cater to individual or small-group karaoke… But that’s not the only way to do things.

Each month, usually for a few separate dates, London hosts events where no single person takes to the stage alone, but rather hundreds bellow out the classics as one.

If you’ve never tried Massaoke, then you really need to try massaoke.

A top-notch live band + hundreds of people crammed together roaring out the classics from the 80s and 90s to their heart’s content = a night you’re not going to forget anytime soon.

Ultimate Power is another great choice if you want to experience a different side of karaoke. Held in Camden’s iconic Electric Ballroom, an Ultimate Power evening promises a dizzying selection of power ballads pumping until 3 am.

If you’re not struggling to speak the next day, then you’re just not singing hard enough.

Practical Tips for Exploring the Best Karaoke Bars in London

  • This might sound obvious, but try to think about what kind of karaoke experience you’re looking for. Do you want a private room or are you looking to take the stage in front of a crowd and let rip?
  • Yes, we all like to be super spontaneous these days, but you might have problems finding somewhere you like to do karaoke at 11pm on Friday night without booking anything first.
