Trejo’s Tacos is set to open in London by the end of the year.

Danny Trejo’s hardman persona precedes him. The ex-con turned movie star has played tough in films from Heat to Con Air and From Dusk Till Dawn to the unforgettable, and frankly unhinged, Machete.

You may not expect it, but he is also a restaurateur. Since 2016 he’s been growing an ever-mighty taco empire around L.A. with Trejo Tacos. Now it’s time for the man to tackle London. Trejo Tacos has announced it will be opening in London before the end of the year, choosing Notting Hill as its new home.

What to Expect

Aaaand the answer is: some bangin’ tacos. It may not be obvious (alarm bells can ring when you hear about a film star running a restaurant chain) but the tacos here are supposed to be great.

Trejo has been solid from the start on the fact that his tacos aren’t going to ‘clog your arteries’. They’re healthy, delicious takes on classic Mexican fare. Don’t just take our word for it. None other than Anthony Bourdain gave them the seal of approval in an episode of Parts Unknown.

So far we’ve been told the menu will feature a breakfast burrito, the LA Times recipe of the year award-winning roasted cauliflower number and the steak asada that Bourdain couldn’t get enough of.

There’s also going to be a menu of cocktails to knock back alongside Trejo’s cooking.

The restaurant itself is set to be pretty massive. The venue is a two-floor job with 100 covers, 70 of which are inside and 30 of which are on an outdoor terrace – perhaps we should ask Trejo if he can bring some of that California weather with him too.
