Kicking off the first week of Tier Two lockdown in London was not a prospect I was hugely looking forward to… until the winning combination of Eggslut’s new-ish pad in Fitzrovia and National Coffee Week came to save the day.

Eggslut burst into London’s consciousness with its Portobello outpost last year – opening its newest location just off Tottenham Court Road in Fitzrovia in July.

The Food

Fans of the American breakfast spot will know the drill – decadent breakfast dishes oozing with free-range Burford Brown Eggs, bouncy buns from Bread Ahead Bakery and life-reviving coffee from a special Nude Coffee Roasters blend. It’s breakfast… done good.

Eggslut Fitzrovia

We opted for two classics: the Bacon, Egg & Cheese and the Sausage Egg & Cheese – both sporting the kind of perfectly-cooked eggs you can only dream of making at home – ensconced in a light brioche bun. It was, in short, a comforting and wholesome way to kick off the day.

The Drink

Naturally, we opted for the custom blend – specially made for Eggslut by Nude Coffee Roasters. It’s National Coffee week after all.

The Look

Pared-down industrial chic – lots of polished concrete, greenery and a cool egg-themed mural from street art maestro Woskerski.

Final Thoughts

Go for the kind of breakfast that you wish you could make at home… but can’t.
