Lurpak is giving away 125 free tickets to a four-course dinner in Shoreditch, and you have until 5pm this Sunday to put your name in. After that the ballot closes and the tickets are gone.
The Good Food Vault runs at Kachette on Old Street from 7 to 9 October, marking the brand’s 125th year. Two hours, four courses, and a menu built around five eras of British eating: the plainness of the 1900s, the flavour rebellion of the 1960s, the indulgence of the 1980s and the viral sharing food of the 2010s, with a multi-sensory jump between each one.
It is free. There is no catch and no upsell, which is unusual enough in brand events to be worth saying plainly.
How the ballot works
You register at lurpak125event.co.uk, share a good food moment of your own, and pick up to three sittings you could make. Entries close at 5pm on Sunday 27 September. Winners are contacted from Monday 28 September. It is 18 and over, UK residents, and a maximum of two tickets per entry, allocated together for the same sitting.
There are eleven sittings across three days and only 125 tickets in total, so the odds are what they are. Anyone who misses out goes into a draw for one of three anniversary hampers, which is a nicer consolation than most ballots manage.
The sittings
- Wednesday 7 October: 12pm, 3pm and 6pm
- Thursday 8 October: 3pm
- Friday 9 October: 12pm, 3pm, 6pm and 9pm
Each sitting is two hours with check-in fifteen minutes before. Picking all three of your options, and picking the awkward ones, is the obvious play: the Thursday afternoon slot and the 9pm Friday are the two most people will leave off their list.
If you do not get in
Lurpak is handing out 500 free cupcakes at the same venue on Tuesday 6 October, starting at 12.25pm. First come, first served, no ballot, no registration. Kachette is a two-minute walk from Old Street station, so it is an easy detour on a lunch break, and 500 cupcakes at half twelve on a Tuesday will not last the hour.
The London x London Take: Enter it today rather than on Sunday afternoon, because the deadline is the only part of this you can get wrong. Then pick the sittings nobody else wants. If you do not get a ticket, the cupcake drop on the 6th is genuinely the better bet for effort expended: no form, no ballot, walk up at 12.25pm on Old Street and you are in.
