Ready to celebrate at Hyper Japan in London? The UK’s top Japanese festival returns to the capital this month and you do not want to miss it.

Bringing with it an abundance of live performances, cultural workshops, and excellent street food, Hyper Japan will highlight the very best of J-culture. The festival returns to Evolution London between the 22nd and 24th of July, and it looks set to be bigger and better than ever before.

Excited? You should be – here’s why.

About the Festival

Hyper Japan

First launched in 2010, Hyper Japan is the biggest festival dedicated to all things Japanese in the UK.

It’s an explosive celebration of Japanese culture, food, and fashion, where J-culture enthusiasts and London’s Japanese diaspora alike can gather to eat, shop, and play.

What’s On?

There are plenty of events happening throughout the festival, though it should come as no surprise that we are most excited about the foodie offerings.

Hyper Japan’s food court will be filled with traders serving up ultra-crispy karaage chicken, packed gyoza, and takoyaki galore. You’ll also be able to stock up on authentic ingredients and snacks.

Karaage

Culture will also play a huge role in this festival, there’ll be plenty of stalls filled with traditional Japanese crafts to workshops on calligraphy, origami, and mask-making. Excitingly, a special demonstration by Yuko Boff on how to conduct an official tea ceremony will also take place.

For those keen to get involved with manga and anime, INKO will be hosting 45-minute drawing workshops for beginners and there’ll be an abundance of stalls selling books and figurines.

Live performers include Nyokee, BANG, and Mion, though you can check out the full line-up for Hyper Japan here.
