This London Initiative is Releasing 1000 Free Theatre Tickets Each Week

Thousands of free theatre tickets in London are going to be released each week throughout 2023 – here’s what you need to know.

Many of us are feeling the pinch right now. And, when it comes to tightening our belts, there’s often little room for fun.

This is why it’s so brilliant that charity Cardboard Citizens has teamed up with some of the capital’s leading cultural organisations to create The Ticket Bank initiative, which aims to offer tickets to those who otherwise would not be able to afford to watch a show.

And, we think you’ll agree that we all could do with a little bit of a lift throughout this freezing January.

The year-long initiative officially launches on 9th January and will produce thousands of ‘donate-what-you-can’ tickets for events each week across the capital during the cost-of-living crisis.

Shows will span music, dance, theatre, and comedy (yes, please), and partners include The Barbican, the Bush Theatre, The National Theatre, and Roundhouse, with plenty more to be announced throughout the rest of 2023. Which, we’re sure you’ll agree, guarantees some epic shows.

Better yet, if you’re in a position where you can spare a small donation (even just a tenner!), you can help those who cannot afford to purchase a full-price ticket. You can make a donation here.

How Does it Work?

If you could seriously benefit from using The Ticket Bank, all you need to do is get in touch with one of the following relevant charities (the full list is available here):

Once the initiative has been launched on 9th January, the above charities will be working with the community to give out access codes that people can use to snag cheap/free tickets.

Shows will be added on a regular basis, so don’t worry if you can’t see any available tickets. Keep checking back and you might just snap up a bargain night out.
