Peaky Blinders Underworld, an immersive attraction built around actor-led challenges and recreated Small Heath sets, opens at Arches London Bridge on 13 August – and the Garrison Tavern inside it is free to enter without a ticket.
For six series, the Shelbys ran Birmingham with a razor blade in the cap and a plan behind every glance. Their world now has a permanent London address. Peaky Blinders Underworld, a new immersive attraction from Banijay, opens under the arches at London Bridge on 13 August, and it wants considerably more from you than a wander past some props behind glass.
What actually happens
You start in the Garrison Tavern, a faithful replica of the Shelby family’s pub, with live music and a drink to steady your nerves. Then you go behind it, into the Underworld itself: recreations of Garrison Lane, the bookies, Chinatown and the Small Heath Fairground, populated by actors testing whether you have got what it takes to run with the gang. The ticketed experience runs about 60 minutes, with a 30-minute arrival window, and it leans on hands-on challenges and actor-led encounters rather than a passive walk-through.
The free bit
The Garrison Tavern does not need a ticket. From 15 August it keeps pub hours – noon to 11pm Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 7pm Sunday, closed Mondays – which makes it a themed, live-music London Bridge pub you can simply turn up to. If the full experience is not your thing, the Tavern alone is a low-stakes way to see what the fuss is about.
Tickets
Standard entry is £21.95, or £26.95 for a flexible ticket valid for any slot on your chosen day. The £52.45 VIP option adds flexible entry, an official hip flask and a premium drink; groups of 10 to 20 come in at £20 a head. It is billed as a limited-run world premiere, which is the kind of phrase that tends to mean exactly what it says.
The London x London Take: Immersive experiences in London are two a penny and wildly uneven in quality, but an actor-led format built around genuine challenges, with a free pub attached, is a smarter hook than most. Go in expecting a proper hour of theatre rather than a photo backdrop – and if you are Peaky-curious rather than Peaky-obsessed, the free Garrison Tavern alone is worth the trip.
