Coq au Vin: KFC and La Vieille Ferme's chicken and wine pop-up in Shoreditch

KFC and La Vieille Ferme are making their chicken-and-wine flirtation official this August bank holiday, with Coq au Vin, a limited-edition wine bar landing in Shoreditch from 28 to 31 August.

The pitch is exactly as unlikely as it sounds: KFC’s fried chicken, served by the bucket, paired properly with La Vieille Ferme‘s wines rather than whatever’s left in the fridge. Popcorn chicken gets sparkling rosé, hot wings get red, and Original Recipe tenders get rosé or blanc, with La Vieille Ferme’s cult “Chicken Wine” label making a limited return exclusively for the event.

The menu

Coq au Vin takes over Kachette Annex in Shoreditch from Friday 28 to Monday 31 August, with each £15 ticket booking a 90-minute slot and the full tasting menu:

Popcorn Chicken with La Vieille Ferme Sparkling Rosé, strawberry, cherry and lively fizz

The London x London Take: brand collaborations promise a lot and usually deliver a branded tote bag and not much else, but an actual sit-down tasting menu pairing KFC with proper wine, complete with a revived cult label, is a genuinely fun premise. Tickets are £15 for a 90-minute slot, and with a four-day run over bank holiday weekend, it’s worth booking ahead rather than relying on the limited walk-in spaces.
