Pho has just launched the world’s first pink sriracha, and it’s throwing open a two-day pop-up outside King’s Cross station to mark the occasion.
The Vietnamese street food group has partnered with SABZU, the premium Thai condiment brand distributed by Bamboomart London, on a genuinely new sauce, made with white Thai chillies grown exclusively in northern Thailand, with its colour coming from hibiscus flower rather than food dye. It’s fruity up front, then properly spicy on the finish, and it’s available exclusively in Pho restaurants nationwide throughout August.
Bodega Sriracha
To celebrate the launch, Pho is opening a hot pink reimagining of a New York-style bodega outside King’s Cross station on Thursday 13 and Friday 14 August, 12pm to 7pm both days, free to attend.
Expect a live DJ, free merch, pink lemonade slushies, food from Pho, ice cream from Hackney Gelato, and the chance to try the new sauce for yourself. There’s also a prize draw running across both days, with free Pho, Benefit cosmetics, and VIP Pho cards offering up to 50% off for a year up for grabs.
Pink Wednesdays
The pink theme doesn’t stop at King’s Cross. Every Wednesday in August, anyone who turns up to a Pho restaurant wearing pink can get a spicy pink margarita and a selection of dishes for £5 each.
The London x London Take: a hibiscus-pink sriracha is a genuinely different spin on a sauce most of us already have a bottle of in the fridge, and a free pop-up outside King’s Cross is an easy way to try it without committing to a bottle.
