The Big Brunch runs every Saturday from 8 August to 26 September at Freight Brixton, with eight themed daytime parties spanning R&B, reggae, ABBA, hip hop, house and garage, each with 60 minutes of bottomless drinks.
Freight Brixton has only existed since May, but it’s already the biggest rooftop in London, a 1,000-capacity open-air space from the team behind Manchester’s Freight Island, sitting right next to Brixton Village Market. The Big Brunch is its first proper daytime residency, and rather than picking one genre and sticking with it, it’s rotating through eight over eight Saturdays.
Each session runs from midday to 4pm, with doors at 12pm and the bottomless drinks window running 12.30pm to 1.30pm before the entertainment properly kicks in. Every date gets its own live vocalists, tribute performers, DJs and roaming hosts built around that week’s theme, rather than one generic party playlist stretched across the whole run.
The lineup
- Saturday 8 August: RNB Classics – Nineties and Noughties R&B, Usher, Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige and Ne-Yo territory, with DJs and roaming performers keeping the singalongs going.
- Saturday 15 August: One Love Reggae – Bob Marley, Beres Hammond and Dennis Brown, with island-inspired production and live performers.
- Saturday 22 August: Just Like ABBA – A full afternoon of Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia and Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!, sequins strongly encouraged.
- Saturday 29 August: Old School Hip Hop – Golden-era beats and anthems from hip hop’s pioneers, with live hosts alongside the DJs.
- Saturday 5 September: Ibiza House Party – Balearic house and festival-style production, running midday until sunset.
- Saturday 12 September: Totally Garage – UK Garage classics and underground favourites, with the rewinds and basslines that genre demands. This date runs longer than the rest, 12pm to 8pm.
- Saturday 19 September: One Love Reggae – The reggae date gets a second run, closing out the middle of the season.
- Saturday 26 September: RNB Classics – The season closes the way it opened, with another full R&B afternoon.
Why Freight Brixton
The venue matters here as much as the parties do. Freight Brixton opened in May as the Freight Island team’s first London site, following the Manchester original at Depot Mayfield, which grew from a pandemic-era opening in 2020 into a 2,500-capacity destination. An open-air rooftop of this size, with proper production rather than a bar with a sound system, is still a rare thing south of the river, and The Big Brunch is the first series built specifically to use all of it.
The London x London Take: Eight different genres across eight Saturdays is a smart way to run a season like this, it means the ABBA crowd and the garage crowd never have to be in the room at the same time, and each date gets a lineup and production built for that specific afternoon rather than a one-size-fits-all brunch. At £35 for entry, an hour of bottomless drinks and a full afternoon of live entertainment, it’s reasonably priced for what’s on offer. Pick the genre you actually want rather than the first date you see, they’re different enough that it matters.
