Barbie is house hunting, and she’s brought Rightmove with her. A free Barbie Dreamhouse Estate Agent pop-up lands on Monmouth Street in Covent Garden this weekend, and if you have a child in your life, a soft spot for the Barbiecore era or simply an appreciation for a very pink shopfront, it’s worth knowing about.
The experience is built around the conceit that Barbie is looking for a new home, with Rightmove’s property expertise lending the whole thing a playfully absurd estate agency format. Visitors can browse Barbie-inspired property listings, take part in a Dreamhouse consultation at the estate agent desk, explore “Barbie Through the Decades” window displays covering 60-plus years of Dreamhouse history, and pose at a dedicated pink photo opportunity. Themed refreshments and complimentary giveaways are on offer while stocks last.
It’s free, it’s first-come first-served, and it runs across three days with generous opening hours. The corporate backdrop is Mattel and Rightmove, but the thing itself is a straightforward free family pop-up in a good location, which is exactly what a weekend in Covent Garden occasionally needs.
The London x London Take: Unashamedly fun. The Rightmove angle is a stretch but the pop-up itself is free, cheerful and in a great spot to combine with lunch in the market. Best suited to families and people who still have strong feelings about which Barbie was best.
