The Formula E World Championship returns to ExCeL London on 15 and 16 August for its season finale, with five drivers still in contention for the title, including British duo Oliver Rowland and Jake Dennis, before AJ Tracey closes out the entertainment each evening.
Five drivers arrive in London with a mathematical shot at the title, and two of them are British. Reigning champion Oliver Rowland and 2023 champion Jake Dennis are both chasing a second Formula E crown, and either result would do something Formula E has never seen. Britain currently shares the record for most Drivers’ Championships with France and Brazil, two titles each. A third would make it the outright most successful nation in the sport’s history.
The title fight
Rowland dominated the 2024-25 season with Nissan, seven podiums and four wins, and has kept the same team and same teammate, Norman Nato, for this campaign. Dennis, still the most successful driver London itself has ever hosted with five podiums and two wins at this exact circuit, is chasing a second title with Andretti. The season has been unusually open, five different winners took the first five races, and Formula E’s own coverage has named Dennis among the title frontrunners heading into this final weekend.
The circuit
London’s E-Prix runs on the only indoor-outdoor circuit on the Formula E calendar, weaving both through and around the ExCeL exhibition centre itself. The 2.077km, 20-turn layout mixes sharp elevation changes with sections that pass from daylight into the venue’s interior lighting, which makes it one of the more physically demanding tracks the drivers face all year, and one of the more interesting ones to watch from the stands.
Away from the track
Away from the racing, the Fan Village runs both days with sim racing rigs, a gaming arena, food vendors and a kids’ zone, alongside the practice sessions, qualifying and the races themselves. Each evening closes with a live set from AJ Tracey, the Ladbroke Grove rapper whose self-titled 2019 debut, released with no label backing, went on to become the year’s best-selling independent album in the UK.
The London x London Take: A title fight this close, arriving in London with two Brits still able to make history, is a genuinely good reason to go even if motorsport isn’t normally your thing. The indoor-outdoor circuit is also one of the more unusual sporting environments in the city right now, worth seeing once regardless of who’s racing. Book early, this one has sold out in previous years.
