April is the month London remembers it’s actually quite beautiful. The parks come back to life, the evenings start stretching out, and the city shakes off whatever winter had been doing to it. It’s also, historically, the month where you dress for spring and get caught in horizontal rain, so it’s worth having a plan that works either way.
The good news is that April has a lot going on. The cultural calendar is reliably strong: major exhibitions tend to open in spring, the theatre season is in full swing, and the outdoor events that define London’s summer start arriving earlier than you’d expect. Easter weekend brings free programming across the city, and if the weather does cooperate, there’s no better place to be than one of London’s parks on a warm April afternoon.
This is our edit of what’s worth your time in London this month, updated as new events are confirmed.
