The Role 

We’re looking for a confident and talented full-time Social Media Manager to work across our portfolio of sites, with a particular focus on London x London and our travel site The Discoveries Of. 

You’ll need to have significant demonstrable social media experience and the versatility to ideate, create and edit content for different platforms.

As the Social Media Manager, you will be responsible for creating fun, relevant and eye-catching social media posts for our platforms. 

That means scoping out cool new restaurants and bars, giving readers the lowdown on what’s on and creating content to entertain and inform.

You should be comfortable working at pace – applying yourself to a number of different tasks, ranging from creating short-form visual content for social media and writing newsletters to staying on top of the latest trends and coming up with ideas for content that pops.

You need to have experience creating and implementing a social media content calendar across a number of platforms as well as being a confident verbal communicator. 

As a part of the role will be creating visual content from your restaurant, bar and destination visits, you will also need to be comfortable in-front of the camera and skilled using editing tools such as Premiere Rush, Canva and Adobe Lightroom / Photoshop. 

Work Remotely 

This position is fully remote. You do need to be London-based and know the city like the back of your hand as this is a major focus for London x London. 

In addition, you will need to be able to meet regularly (no more than once a week) for editorial meetings. 

Working Hours 

This is a full-time role. Working hours are 9.30am – 6pm but you will need to be able to attend regular evening events and reviews outside of this as appropriate. Please only apply if you are able to commit to this. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating and implementing a social media calendar filled with interesting, accurate and engaging on-brand content across a number of different social media platforms.
  • Filming / photographing and editing content. 
  • Review visits and events. 
  • Researching contacts and outreach. 
  • Assisting and supporting the editor with day-to-day tasks.

Key Skills and Experience

  • London-based. 
  • Qualifications in marketing or photography / videography. 
  • Ability to ideate and create an engaging social media calendar (cannot stress this enough – you will be asked to create a draft calendar as part of the interview process). 
  • 1+ years in social media role and are able to showcase a portfolio of work from this. 
  • Comfortable being in front of the camera as required for video content.
  • Experience working in a fully-remote team and using platforms such as Asana and Slack to communicate and manage workflows. 
  • Ability to ideate and pitch ideas for features to the editor. 
  • Extensive experience with WordPress
  • Passionate about London. 
  • Organised, hardworking, friendly, flexible and enthusiastic. 
  • Excellent attention to detail. 
  • Performs well under pressure and works to a high standard. 
  • Quick thinking and problem-solving skills. 
  • Works well in a team. 
  • Self-motivated – this is essential as you will be responsible for ensuring you are managing your time effectively and fulfilling the requirements of the role. 

Pay & Benefits 

  • Job Type: Initially working on a freelance basis with scope to become permanent. 
  • £25,000 per annum, pro rata.
  • Opportunity to conduct restaurant, bar and event reviews. 
  • Ability to work remotely
