Fora Form - Exhibitor: Material Matters 2022

London Design Festival champions the capital’s impressive designers and designs, and promotes them on a global stage. From furniture-designers to potters and technologists, all creative outlets are celebrated.

Ambient Sound at Japan House London

16th – 24th September

Sound artist and electronic musician Yuri Suzuki has two commissions opening in Japan House for the London Design Festival. Suzuki has been exploring the relationship between music and technology throughout his career, collaborating with artists to create some fascinating installations. This is a great opportunity to see the kind of stuff he does.

The works feature a bit of interaction too. You can get stuck in and create your own ambient sounds through a soundboard. The exhibition is free so no tickets needed but you can find more info here

From Pollution to Products

20th – 23rd September

This one is run by The Tyre Collective – a tech company that’s dedicated themselves to clean technology. The main way they do this is by studying and developing tech to stop tyre wear. That’s basically the process of car tyres polluting tiny bits of rubber as you use them.

This exhibition looks at the impact of that pollution and some very creative things we can do to stop it. More info here. You’ll need a ticket, you can book that here

The Modernist Book Fair

22nd + 23rd September

Architecture fans will surely get a kick out of this event. The Modernist Book Fair is a two-day event and an evening of talks from some important folk in the business of publishing books on modernist architecture.

The talks take place on Friday 22nd at 6:30pm. More information and tickets to the talks can be found here

Meet The Maker: Katy Eccles of Imprint Casts

19th September

If you like to get creative here’s a great opportunity to learn from someone who thinks way outside the box. Katy Eccles founded Imprint Casts where she plies her trade making beautiful casts of flowers grouped together to form snap shots of nature.

She’s going to be running a class where she will show give you an interactive demonstration and then hold a Q&A session to answer any questions you have. More information can be found here

LDNdesign Talks Stage

21st – 24th September

One of the main events of the festival is what goes on on the Talks Stage. It’s here that they gather prominent designers involved in the festivities to deliver talks and Q&As on their chosen field.

The talks will cover subjects as broad and varied as landscape design to fashion materials and everything in between. It’s a bit of a highlight and there’s always something interesting to see and hear about. More information here

Ceramics in the City

23rd +24th September

After taking a five year break from appearing at the London Design Festival, Ceramics in the City are back for more. Hosted at the Museum of the Home, you’ll find an exhibition of some of the finest ceramicists working in the country today.

There are 45 artists displaying work this time around and if the previous events are anything to go by then it should be a nice mix of emerging talent and some more established names. More information can be found here
